What's coming up...?

Updated: Jan 25

What amazing news we had recently - we came 3rd in the WCPF Kingswood Salver. Out of 99 clubs! We're delighted, it's our first placing in an external competition. Above is our panel, with images from Vicky, Sue, Paul. Di, and Amanda, expertly put together by Alma. The images were taken at Bratton Down point to point racing.

It's the run up to Christmas...so not long until our Christmas Quiz night! Last year this was a lot of fun, not least because of the mysteries of organising quiz teams over zoom! We're zoom whizzes now! The winning team was Mandy, Martyn, and Vicky. Who's gonna take the title this year?

This month we also have a phone photography competition, and a talk from an invited speaker, Barbie Lindsay. More info below.

We've been able to record most of our zoom meetings and members can watch again later if unable to attend the meetings. If you are not a member of our club and interested in joining our talks to see what we're all about get in touch.

Don't forget to put a shout out on WhatsApp if you're heading out for a spot of photography and want some company.

6th December: Phone Photography Competition

Following the recent talk from Martyn on taking and editing phone camera images, we have a phone photography competition. You can enter 3 images taken with your phone. Send them to the competition email address: brauntoncccomps@gmail.com on or before Sunday and we'll use a voting system on the night to choose the winners. Check out some of Martyn's phone images on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/martbike/

We will also discuss which images to put forward from club members for the DPIC.

13th December: Invited Speaker - Barbie Lindsay

Barbie will be sharing an array of her images with us in a 'pick and mix' style. You'll see from her website she covers a lot of genres and will be guided by us what we'd like to see.

"Barbie is a photographic obsessive. She lives and thrives on the photographic medium. Her world is seen through the eye of the lens and her life totally revolves around her love of photography".

NB: Don't forget to hand in your images for the Open 2 competition, maximum 2 x DPI and 2 x prints.

20th December: Christmas Quiz Night!

Paul and Sue will be organising us into zoom teams and taking us through a photography based quiz. Get swotting folks!

Recently we had the judging of the Mono competition. You can see the images awarded certificates in the gallery below. The first 9 images are DPI entries, and the next 3 are print entries.
